The German Foreign Ministry warned that the situation of the Iran War remains "tense" and called for more talks between Washington and Tehran.

"An agreement between the US and Iran to stop mutual attacks and continue talks is an important step and opens a chance for diplomacy," German diplomats said on X.

"Now it's about reaching a sustainable solution for a safe, free passage through the Strait of Hormuz and, in particular, for Iran's nuclear program, which should no longer pose a threat," it added.

The statement came after German Foreign Minister Johann Wadedeful met his American counterpart, Marco Rubio, in Washington.

US President Donald Trump said that US and Iranian delegations will negotiate in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Tuesday.

"Iran has requested a meeting. It will be held in Doha tomorrow," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform on Monday.

Later, he said the meeting would be "possibly significant, possibly not."

But Tehran denied reports that talks with the US were imminent.

Iran's news agency ISNA quoted Foreign Ministry Deputy Kazem Garibabadi, who said the meeting "will be held as soon as conditions are met and a date and location are agreed upon."

"No meetings of technical working groups are scheduled this week," the Iranian official added. However, he also confirmed that consultations through intermediaries will be held.

Despite US President Donald Trump saying talks between US and Iranian delegations will be held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, there has been no confirmation from Tehran.
