It appears Manchester City striker Erling Haaland cannot be stopped.
He has won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2022-23 and 2023-24, and is on course to win it again this season with 14 goals, six more than any other player.
He scored four goals in the last international break in Norway's wins against Estonia and Italy, securing their place at the 2026 World Cup.
Haaland is the highest-scoring player in Fantasy Premier League with 102 points - 21 points clear of the next highest, Arsenal defender Gabriel, and 42 points clear of the next highest forward, Brentford's Igor Thiago.
Haaland has an incredible 99 goals in 108 Premier League games - and has a chance to reach a century against Newcastle on Saturday.
So we ask: is Haaland now a set-and-forget captain's pick, or do we need to consider alternative options every week?
This week, FPL experts and the BBC Sport The FPL podcast boys discuss the latest talking point.
"Haaland's numbers are the best by a mile",
"My strategy this season is just to support Haaland - just stay with him", said former Premier League-winning striker Chris Sutton.
Statman Dave said: "I don't think you should be moving away from Haaland now. He has scored eight goals in his last five games. He is flying - his numbers are the best in the league by a mile. It's not the right time to do it.
"There might be a time when you look at Haaland against a team that is going to sit deep and play with five defenders.
"Newcastle have caused Manchester City some problems at home in recent years. But Haaland is on fire at the moment and Manchester City look much better. They were fantastic against Liverpool."
It's no surprise Haaland is the most selected player in FPL, appearing in 71% of teams.
But who are you going to pick if you don't have Haaland or want to try something different?
"[Manchester United midfielder] Barmby", said Statman Dave. "He's the only man this week if you're not going with Haaland.
"They have Everton at home and Manchester United have been looking very, very good at home, unlike their inconsistent home form. They've been creating a lot of chances."
"I'm not brave enough this week",
For many, prolific Haaland had been a locked-in captain's pick in recent weeks, but I was prepared to bet against him and consider alternatives in the 12th game against Newcastle.
That was until I saw how good City - and Haaland - were against Liverpool. Haaland continued his electric goal-scoring form during the international break, and it seems too risky to bet against him this time.
It's worth noting Haaland has played against Newcastle six times in the league and cup, scoring just once.
A trip to St James' Park is widely regarded as one of the toughest fixtures on the calendar, so this week, when Arsenal (Spurs at home), Manchester United (Everton at home) and Crystal Palace (Wolves away) have attractive fixtures, Boubakary Soumare, Barmby or Jean-Philippe Mateta might be considered for those with a taste for risk.
Looking at the festive schedule, there are weeks when I might be brave enough to bet against Haaland - a trip to Fulham in the 14th game and Crystal Palace in the 16th game.
Midfielders Soumare and Barmby have been impressive in recent performances, and if their form continues, they offer alternatives to Haaland. In the two games mentioned, Barmby plays West Ham at home, Soumare plays Wolves at home.
Historically, we've relied on Mohamed Salah as our reliable captain when betting against Haaland, and Liverpool's fixtures offer some hope for those betting on the in-form Egyptian.
Most engaged managers have sold Salah, but there are plenty of free chips to play with in the coming weeks, so Salah remains a legitimate option for those with an arm.
The chart below shows two alternatives to Haaland for the next six weeks. The bold is who I would likely pick as captain.
